More about the elections held on 5 May 2022

Elections for the new Cumberland Council were held on Thursday 5 May 2022.

These elected councillors for the new unitary authorities. Those eligible to vote in the Cumberland Council elections, were asked to vote for one candidate within their ward.

Vesting day for the new councils is 1 April 2023. From this day Cumberland Council will provide district and county council services across the current areas of Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland. 

The new Cumberland Council will have 46 councillors. The wards boundaries are the same as those for the current county council divisions. 

The councillors will initially sit on a Shadow Authority until Vesting Day which is 1 April 2023. They then serve on the new councils for a further four-year term.
